Question: Hello Doctor

I have been diagnosed with hiatal hernia(reflux) ..
The doctor gave me medicine: Omeprazol"actives" ,, it works like magic; it really keeps the reflux away; and I feel like the hiatal hernia isn't there.
The doctor told me that this medicine was totally safe.

Can you tell me ?
Is this medicine totally safe to take ? .. cause Im gonna need to take it a couple of years from now.

sincerely

Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.Ratnakar Kini and I am pleased to answer your query.

Yes, Omeprazole is a very safe medication especially in a young individual like you.
Rarely it can cause headache and diarrhea as side effects.

The long term effects in elderly is different which may not be applicable to you.

I hope that answers your question.
