Question : I take 40mg furosemide 50mg eplerenone and 20meq potassium daily. Can the diuretics make gout flare up?
Brief Answer:
it's possible
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
furosemide may cause an increase in uric acid levels although its effect is usually mild. In patients with many gout attacks it has to be considered though.
Eplrenone has not been associated with an increased risk for gout attacks.
Kind regards!
