Question : my wife is currently taking valproic acid and the nursing home psychiatriast wants to start her on 25mg lamictal. from what I read that combination could cause serious side effects.
Brief Answer:
Major interaction
Detailed Answer:
There is a major drug interaction between these two medications. which means the interaction is clinically significant and should be avoided as the risk of interaction overweighs the benefit.. This combination may cause skin rash, restlessness, seizures, tremors, muscle weakness, and staggering walk. I hope I answered your question.
