Question : hi! my helper was bitten by our housedog yesterday. she sutained a XXXXXXX wound and several shallow wounds from the bite. the wounds were immediately washed with soap & water and applied an antiseptic ointment (burnol), then brought to the E.R. for further treatment... she was injected with anti-tetanus/HTig shot and was asked to take oral antibiotics for 7days since yesterday.

the dog is in a sanitized area, takes a bath everyday, and eats dogfood only. it has bitten my helpers (including this one, but not as severe and took only anti-tetanus shots) in the past and the dog stayed healthy until now.

this helper of mine was prescribed today with an anti-rabies shot (1x-rabipur & 3x-beribub) because the doctor in charge of prescribing anti-rabies was off duty yesterday...
my question is:
1.) what is the difference between rabipur & berirub?
2.) does she really need to have all these shots?

Berirab is human rabies immunoglobulin IgA and protects the acute illness of rabies.

Rabipur is vaccination which protects her from rabies in future. Both the injections are used together after a bite from an animal of unknown vaccination status.

All the shots are necessary as your pet is not vaccinated against rabies.

If it is vaccinated and you observe the dog carefully for any signs of acute illness then berirub shots can be avoided.
