Brief Answer:
I suggest you to get tested for all STD's

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have taken note of your query and I have understood it.

Since you had a broken condom during your sexual encounter with commercial sex worker... this effectively amounts to unprotected sex because there may have been some exchange of genital secretions and therefore you must screen yourself for all the STD's like gonorrhea, chlamydia, genital herpes, syphilis as well as HIV.

Even though the sex worker told you that she is clean but you can't take that for a guarantee.

Please note--Even an intact condom adequately protects only against HIV, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.
Genital herpes and syphilis can be transmitted even with a condom protected sex though the risk is less as compared to unprotected sex.

Screening for HIV is earliest at 4 weeks with HIV DUO/ COMBO test. The test has a sensitivity of 99.8% at 4 weeks.

Test for genital herpes is with an "HSV ELISA" and can be taken up at 4 weeks along with HIV DUO test.

Screening for syphilis is with a "VDRL/ RPR test" and can also be taken up along with HIV and Herpes testing at 4 weeks.

Moreover, if you develop any symptoms like urethral discharge, burning on passing urine, genital ulcer Or erosion, genital warts/ growths etc you must get yourself checked with a dermatologist.

Thank You Dr Kakkar.

Please hepl me clear few more doubts about this.
1. I Understand the percentage for vaginal HIV virus transfer of less compared to Anal for short time exposure (Mine was lesst tha 30secs).
2. I was told by a homeopathy doctor that Homeopathy has cure for HIV. I this True? This Homeopathy Doctor shared me a link and asked me order medicines online and later visit him.
3. Are ther chances of me getting contacted with other STD's along with HIV?
4. STD's other than HIV are curable?
5. What are the symptoms of HIV?

Brief Answer:
You must screen for all STD's

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

A short exposure has less risk of infection because there would be less wear and tear and therefore the virus has less chance to gain an entry. Nevertheless an unprotected sexual exposure no matter how short is not without risk.

No, Homeopathy does not have a cure for HIV infection.

Yes, you must also screen yourself for other STD's like gonorrhea, chlamydia, genital herpes, syphilis as well as HIV.

Genital herpes virus infection once acquired stays for ever. It can re-activate from time to time to give rise to genital sores.
Other STD's like syphilis, chancroid, genital warts, gonorrhea and chlamydia are curable.

HIV initially may present with non-specific flu like symptoms i.e Fever, headache, muscle and joint aches and pains, fatigue, swollen glands, sore throat, rash and in late stages by diarrhea, weight loss, opportunistic infections and malignancies etc
