Does Usage Of Minoxidil Help In Treating Alopecia In Males?

Question: Hi Sir ,My name is XXXXXXX I have been suffering from Hair loss problem and undergoing medication for past 5 years (single doctor). I'm currently using
1.Hair 4 U 5% in the morning
2.Mintop Pro in the night
3. androanagen tablets in the night before sleeping.
Before I was using Alpecin shampoo for head bath but due to unavailability doctor has suggested me zycafy shampoo..
(I also used Renocia, logihair and finax for sometime)

Though I'm using tablets and shampoos for long time my crown and front part of hair is getting thinner and scalp is visible. I enquired about PRP treatment and asked my doctor for the same treatment. Besides his busy schedule he cant make it.

So,now I came out and consulted other doctor for the PRP treatment. She has given me Finax 1mg tablets and asked me to use that for 2 months along with above mentioned shampoos , syrum and tablets. Later i learnt from internet that side effects of this finax include impotence , decrease in ejaculatory volume and other abnormal sexual function . Now I'm really worried about this tablet and started thinking about the side effects daily while consuming it.

To clarify my doubts recently I consulted one more doctor in XXXXXXX He said 1mg of finax wont create much of side effects .Since I'm using tablets and other stuff for long time.. He asked me to stop the above mentioned tablets , shampoos and gave me below medicines (Not yet started using it)
1.Hair 4 U lotion ( Daily night usage)
2. Anaphase shampoo (DUCRAY) - 2 to 3 times a week.
3.Proanagen - Daily night before bed.

Below are My queries for you

1. Considering my hair thinning situation whether it is best to go PRP treatment and use the lotions and other stuff for maintenance
2.Out of above mentioned tablets, Shampoos and lotions which is safe and have effective results.
3.Taking daily head bath with shampoo is good for hair ?
4.Taking Finax tablet is good for person who is aged below 30
5. Alpecin, Zycafy and anaphase .. Which shampoo gives effective results ?
6. How can I conceal my visible scalp now ?

I very well know that I got confused because of consulting many doctors. But I'm trying to get the possible information and thoughts from other expert doctors before proceeding for a treatment. Kindly share me your views and ideas on what is good and what is not good for hair.

I'm single and my age is 27. Working as a software professional in XXXXXXX Do let me know if you require any other details .

Waiting for your valuable response sir !!

Thanks,
XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Androgenetic alopecia - treatment is individualized and life long

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have understood your concern

Only minoxidil (hair 4u)and finasteride(finax) are approved remedies for androgenetic alopecia in males. Treatment is lifelong. Finasteride is safe. Sexual side effects with finasteride are rare and temporary and usually subside with continued treatment. Moreover these side effects are reversible on discontinuation of treatment.
You may in addition go for prp sessions. Anaphase shampoo is fine. Topically you may continue with hair 4u 5% solutions. Orally you may take either finax or androanagen tablets. Taking daily head bath is absolutely fine. In addition to topical and oral treatment and prp sessions you may also consider hair transplant as an option. Hair transplant would cover bald and thin areas and is the most effective, long lasting solution.

Hi Sir,

Thanks a lot for your valuable response. My doctor has asked me to take finax for 2 months only. May I know the reversible side effects on discontinuation of treatment after 2 months .

Also can you please let me know how much it would cost for PRP treatment for one sitting. Are there any techniques for giving PRP treatment ? If so which one would be good ?

Thanks,
XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Answers to specific queries

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

In individuals who experience sexual side effects they are reversible on discontinuation of treatment with finasteride.
PRP would cost anywhere between 3k-5k per sitting.
PRP has just one technique of administration.

Hi Sir,
I have been using little bit of toppik hair spray to conceal my visible scalp and to make my hair look fuller...should I keep on using it. I have heard that it's not harmful and can be used alongside the treatment like others uses gel, serum etc

Thanks,
