Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for your query.

I would like some more details pertaining to your problem before I answer your question.

I need to know where exactly is the pain, is it on a particular joint, or do you have pain in your entire digit?

Do you feel any swelling in the toes or in the finger in which you have pain?

Is there any stiffness at the joints? By this, I mean do you have difficulty making a fist of bending your toes.

When is the pain worse at night or during the day?

Does the pain get worse in the morning i.e. after rest or after movement of the joints?

Do you have any other complaints like fever, fatigue or loss of appetite?

Lastly, do you have any back pain?

Let me know about these and I will be able to help you better.

Regards,

the mild pain is in the joint between the 2 and 3rd toe left.
no swelling.. in the finger, its the centre middle finger left.
no stiffness in the joint
its not about morning or evening pain..it hurts in the foot part
I have no fever, fatigue or loss of appetite.. nor is there any back pain
but my bank medical tests in May said.. i have osteopenia.. my bone density was not too good

Hi XXXXXXX

I went through your symptoms.

Your condition seems less likely to be due to any serious arthritis and more due to non-inflammatory causes like osteoarthritis.

I suggest that you should be definitely taking calcium about a gram and vitamin D about 1000 units daily.

For the pain, you could use some mild anti-inflammatory drug and topical NSAIDs like a diclofenac spray.

Lastly, exercises in the form of a brisk walk would do you good.

In addition, a test for your ESR and rheumatoid factor whenever you are going for blood tests next.

I hope I have been helpful, let me know in case of any doubts.
