Brief Answer: Yes, it is safe. Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome to Healthcare Magic! By afib, I guess you are referring to Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). Mucinex (guaifenesin) has no cardiac adverse effects and does not affect the heart rhythm. So it is absolutely safe for people with AFib. It may cause nausea and gastrointestinal upset in some people. Patients suffering from asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, smoker’s cough and porphyria should be cautious when taking Mucinex.
