Question : Hi, for about 3 months now I have an uncomfortable sensation of an air bubble. At first it was in my lower left side near my ovaries. It was uncomfortable enough that I could not sleep on that side too much. About 4 days ago the sensation feels worse and now it in the center below my stomach just above my pelvis. It hurts occasionally most of the day uncomfortable. I felt so bad yesterday I ended up with a headache. First time ever I purchased some over the counter medicine for bowl movement, hoping it would help. It did just a little. The sensation increases and decreases back and forth throughout the day.

Pain in the left lower abdomen and pelvis in a female could be due to -
1) Pelvic inflammatory disease - Imaging could be normal and you may have leukorrhoea. More likely if you have an IUD
2) dysuria and frequency
3) Tubo-ovarian pathologies - are usually visible on imaging studies unless it is a transient problem like torsion
4) Any pelvic infection related to the intestines or colon (Enteritis Or Colitis).
You should see a doctor if the symptoms do not reduce in 24 hours. Till then check if there is an over the counter antispasmodic available with your pharmacist. Take them after taking fluid diet, three times a day.
Discuss with your GP and get a good examination and some basic investigations like ultrasound done to sort out the issue.
