                                            Question : Hello
I suddenly debeloped a lump on my back along the mid thorasic area. It does not cause any pain although its only been 24 hours since first observed. Please advise. I felt a slight discomfort in that area during my last yoga class where we had to do a reverse prayer - not sure if that is a coincidence or some self fulfilling prophecy - i am leaving for XXXXXXX for 2 weeks in about 4 hours so was anxious whether to cancel the trip assuming the worst. Please advise.

                                    Dear Dr Bhagyesh,
Thank you for your reply and reassrance - this was quite troubling but i am glad to know it is something benign and seemingly less harmful than what i was expecting. Any thoughts on why this occurs suddenly - i have recently rediscovered tennis, yoga for about 2 years and am an avid runner so wonderig what causes this. Again thank you and can you describe procedure for removal of this approximately, you mentioned surgeon .

                                    Brief Answer:
explanations provided for follow up .
Detailed Answer:
Welcome dear
* This is accumulation of fat or sebum type material in certain areas of the body ,
giving this lump , no reasons of happening .
* It is a long standing chronic process going at microcellular level , we only notice
when it pops out to certain extent , so it is not sudden onset but rather sudden
notice to our knowledge .
* It has no concerns with your tennis or running activities , yes in certain joints
like wrist , ankles you get stretching when move the joints .
* Removal is a day care procedure for cure .
- We evaluate patient for ultrasound of the local part , Fasting blood sugar ,
check BP and other parameters before proceeding for the surgery .
- Patient and relatives are explained thoroughly regarding the pathology , type
of treatments available and best suitable option for the particular case .
- Written consent for the procedure is taken .
- Either local anesthesia or general anesthesia ( both are possible according to
choice of the Surgeon and patient willingness ) is given , lump is excised ,
hemostasis achieved , suturing applied , sterile dressing done .
- Specimen is sent for histopathological examination in the laboratory .
- Timing for the surgery approximately 20 - 25 minutes .
Discharge for Local anesthesia case within 2 hours .
for General anesthesia case within 4 - 5 hours .
* By the way if you are in XXXXXXX and wish surgery , I also offer medical tourism
for you to undergo surgery at Apollo multispeciality hospital , Gandhinagar ,
XXXXXXX .
Hope this clarifies your doubt .
Wishing you fine health ahead always .
Regards .
