Brief Answer:
I would like to get some tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for asking on this platform

The most common cause of cough with fever in this age is some infection. Viral is much more commoner than bacterial.
In viral infection fever usually shows a declining trend after 72 hours. If fever persists longer, better to get some tests done to rule out bacterial infection. In viral infection there is no need of antibiotic and most of the children respond well to routine fever medication and cough syrup.
Swine flu test should also be done because of its increasing incidence. Giving promethazine (an antiallergic and also helps in vomiting) along with some bronchodilator (which helps in relieving airway spasm) /mucolytic (a sputum thinning agent) like combination of Ambroxol with levosalbutamol helps in cough.
Here I would suggest you to get him evaluated by a pediatrician and get some investigations done to rule out bacterial infection or swine flu.
Please let me know if you are already giving some medication for cough so that I better able to help you out.
Regards
