Question : Given meftal p to 3 year old kid for 2 days..now fever is in control but kid have mouth ulcer and do not want to eat anything.

You can apply Zytee gel

Hi...for mouth ulcer you can give zytee gel to be applied over the ulcer, 15 minutes before giving food. You can apply this for 3-5 days.
Usually kids with fever will eat less only. If the kid is active in between two fever episodes then do not worry. Activity of the kid is more important than the height of the fever.

Hello sir
4th-5th aug my son was down with high fever. Doc prescribed dollo 250 and meftal p (sos-max 3 times)
4th & 5th we gave him dolo 250 + meftal p az fever was 101.
From 5th night we stopped meftal p and from yesterday we stopped dolo 250 as well as not temperature is around 97-98
I am worried as he is rarely taking food or water and we noticed mouth ulcer.
Also few person told meftap p is not safe and have drastic side effect.
1) last meftal p dose was given at 6 PM 5th aug almost 36 hours now..we can expect more side effect or we can assume now thing should get better
2) activity wise he seems okay. Little bit less talking or energytic but want to play

Looks like viral illness - dont worry - I too do not prescribe Meftal
Detailed Answer:
Hi...Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day.
If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose (maximum ceiling dose of 500mg) every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.
Meftal-P contains Mefenamic acid which is a NSAID. It carries the risk of gastritis and renal problems in the long run. Please do not use Meftal-P.
Do not worry about the side effects as you have not over used Meftal. I did not vocalize my opinion in the first instance as I did not want to scare you. But I would have told you not to use Meftal even if you had not asked about it in this query.
