Hi,
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to Health care magic.
I have gone through the details.
HSV1 can be transmitted through skin to skin contact or intercourse or kiss. It is higher when active lesions are present. If there is any contact when active lesions are present, there are chances of transmission.
The frequency of recurrence decreases with time. As years pass, number and severity decreases.
Valtrex is effective in preventing recurrence if taken appropriately.
Wife can become pregnant without complications with precautions.
There are no serious complications with anal hsv1 except for recurrence.
You can get back for any clarification.

Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
Better avoid intercourse during active lesions, even physical contact too. You can use condoms , but there will be skin to skin contact which can transmit HSV.
You can take 500 mg twice daily for 3 days during recurrence. Better take during recurrence only.
But it is a prescribed medication.
