Question : I have had an inner ear infection and did get medical help for it. The infection is gone, so now I'm on Prednicsone to get rid of the fluid. I am taking my last of 5 pills for this today. Do you know how long this takes and how much fluid are we talking about? Will I notice this fluid coming out through my nose? If not, down my throat? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Fluid clears off depending upon the inflammation

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

The middle ear fluid will be less than 0.2ml. The clearance of the fluid depends upon the amount of inflammation present in the middle ear and the Eustachian tube. Sometimes, the fluid can clear off within a couple of days.

The fluid clears off through the Eustachian tube and as the quantity is minimal you may not notice it.

Hope I have answered your query; I'll be available for the follow up queries.
