Question : Hi,
I once in a while check my cholesterol level and the last time I tested was in Aug 10th, which had a very favourable report. My last report was taken after taking atrova 20 mg for 7 days . I prefer to take ayurvedic solutions and so started one with Himalaya shuddha guggulu.Attached is my latest report, can you help me with the new results ? Should I be worried and take any medicine to control LDL, as that one seem to be in the high risk region. Can you help me here please. The last time I contacted was Dr. Sukwinder XXXXXXX I would like to interact with him or any good cardiologist for a opinion

Brief Answer:
Yes - high level / need drug

Detailed Answer:
Dear friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

This high level is not likely to attain target levels with life style modifications alone.
It is manufactured in the liver – and that is determined by heredity.
Drugs are a must… Statin is the first choice. / 10 mg of Atorvastatin you took is too low. The dose is up to 80 mg…
For a long life, you need to take the drug lifelong… in addition to life style changes

LDL is bad cholesterol – lower, the better.
In the absence of any other risk factor 100 is ideal for LDL-C. In the presence of ischemia, 70 should be the aim.

Keep your weight to normal / even a little less
Quit smoking, if you are a smoker
Do regular EXERCISE – say walking or jogging - 30 minutes a day / at least 5 days in a week. Isometric exercise (like bull worker) is bad.
Healthy FOOD is a must. Avoid saturated fats – coconut oil, palm oil, butter, ghee, full cream milk...Avoid junk foods in particular – French fries have palm oil / Pizza has cheese / XXXXXXX sweets are made in ghee.../ Change to Poly-un-saturated oil – like sun flower oil. / Include Mono-un-saturated oil – Olive oil.

TAKE 40 MG ATORVASTATIN
Repeat the test in 6 weeks.

Take care
Good luck
