Brief Answer:
Need more information.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

High blood potassium level (normal range 3.5 to 5.5 mEq/L clinically) can be brought down to normal with appropriate medications and dietary restrictions.

K-bind powder or sachets can be used which actually decrease further absorption from the gut.

Diuretics (furosemide or torsemide) can be used which increases urine out from kidney and excess potassium goes in urine.

Avoid diet rich with potassium like avoid coconut water, fruits and pulses from the diet for till his potassium comes back to normal.

But before discussing further I would like to ask some more information.

1) What is his serum potassium and also sodium level?
2) Is there is history of heart disease or hypertension or diabetes?
3) What medications he is taking right now?
4) Is there any symptom from high potassium?

Kindly get back to me with this information,I will guide you further after having some medical history of your father.

Regards,
