Question : Hi, I am 26/male. I am under severe stress for the past 1 month due to some sad incidents in my family last month. last week i took complete blood test. in which my blood results are abnormal for bilirubin 1.17. RBC 5.59. creatinine 1.3 (BUN is 9.3). triglycerides 202 HDL 25 VLDL 40 Could you please let me know what should I do it to get back these things to normal. I am more worried about creatinine increase.

                                    Brief Answer:
No need to worry. creatinine is normal.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
XXXXXXX
welcome to HCM.
Out of all the reports, only tryglicerides are a little elevated. creatinine is normal, even though lab reference values change from place to place.
Severe stress, dehydration, reduced timely food can partially derange all these parameters. Mild elevation of triglycerides is commonly seen and can be due heriditory factors. A little cut on fatty diet will help it.
In your case, there is absolutely nothing to worry. Take some rest, plenty of fluids (2.5-3 lit/day) and repeat the tests after 1 week, you should see everything back in place. Mean while, avoid all kinds of pain killers, if you are using any.
All the best.

Many thanks for clarifying XXXXXXX I am bit relieved now. I have been using Betnelan for mild sinus. I stopped using it since I saw rise in creatinine. Is it okay to stop it suddenly? i am not having running nose. but i have little bit itching since yesterday, not severe though.

                                    Brief Answer:
Test abnormalities could be due to these steroids
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am really surprised why you have been prescribed betamethasone tablets ( a strong steroid for your age) for such long time. There are excellent alternatives for running nose or allergies and oral steroids are dangerous to use for that long time.

Anyway, you should not stop them suddenly. You should half the dose every 10 days till minimum dose and then stop it gradually over 1 month.
The test abnormalities could be due to these steroids you have been on.
Hope this helped you. Please rate before closing the discussion.
Any further doubts for clarifications are welcome.
Thank you.
