I Had Unprotected Sex With Someone With Genital Warts About

Question: I had unprotected sex with someone with genital warts about a year ago but I still have not shown any symptoms myself. I am not sure if he had warts visible at that time. I haven't had the chance to get a pap smear to see if I have been affected. If I haven't shown any symptoms, does that mean I didn't catch it? Will I accidentally transfer it to someone else if I do have it?

Brief Answer:
Regarding HPV

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

Apart from the possibility that you didnt acquire the infection, HPV can remain clinically silent for months and can be passed on to others during this incubation period. You must get a PAP smear test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
