Question : Hello Doctor, I had an unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex. This was my first sex experience and it was with a csw. I got myself tested through CMIA antibody/p24 antigen test at 90 days post exposure, the result was 0.06 non reactive, Again i got tested at 160 days and the result was non reactive at 0.07. Is it conclusive or do i have to test again at 180 days? I am worried

Brief Answer:
Conclusive test

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

CMIA antibody/p24 antigen test done 160 days after exposure in conclusive for HIV. No further testing is required unless you have another sexual encounter.

I am happy you had protected vaginal sex. Avoid CSW and try to maintain a single sexual partner in the future.

I hope I was of help, if you have any further doubts please get back to me I will be happy to sort out all your worries

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX

Thank you for your answer, just to inform you I got tested at Dr. Lal Pathlabs, But I came to know that they conduct all hiv tests in XXXXXXX So my sample was transported by flight. Does flight transport has any effect on the sample? I got my test report in 18 hours. And, what is the risk of hiv from oral sex? Please answer as I am in depression even after getting 2 negative test results from one of the reputed labs of XXXXXXX I believe dr lal pathlabs is a reputed lab if i am not mistaken.I have also taken an oath not to have sex with anyone except my wife when I get married in future. This was my first experience and I didn't like it at all.

Brief Answer:
Reputed lab

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back

Risk of transmission of HIV with oral sex is extremely low, please dont worry about it. Dr Lal Pathlabs is very reputed and the results will not change due to transport through flight.

I am happy about your decision about single sexual partner

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX

I know i should be convinced that I am free from HIV after getting a negative test result at 160 days post exposure, but still my mind is giving me nightmares. What is the probability that the negative HIV test at 160 days will become positive afterwards.

I am not able to sleep and I am getting nightmares. I screwed my exams, indirectly my career just thinking about this.

If a person gets HIV, how long can he live with proper medications?

Does occasional smoking and drinking in parties affect antibodies production. I used to smoke occasionally, like a few in a month. But I have left smoking and drinking forever after this incident.

Please help me...I am scared!!

Brief Answer:
Will not get HIV

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back.

It is not possible to be detected positive for HIV after this. It is confirmed that you do not have HIV. Rest assured you can live a happy and healthy life from now on.

With proper medications and regular check ups I have patients who have lived for more than 20 years without problems.

Occasional drinking and smoking will not affect antibody production. It has nothing to do with detection of HIV

Please get back to me with any doubts, I will be happy to answer them
