Question: Hello Maam,
Thank you for answering my previous question. As that question is closed now i am asking new question directly. My Old questions was :
My wife is 8 week pregnant. During 7 week scan doctor suggested her to start a folic acid tablet. The suggested tablet was Meconeuron HR. While buying chemist gave us MHR which we did not realized. On checking it online we found that both tablets i.e. Meconeuron HR and MHR are by same company and both are taken as folic acid supplement. But the cost difference in them is considerable. So can you please let me know the difference between these 2 tablets and which 1 is better?

your Answer:
Brief Answer:
MHR is better.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Both the tablets are different trade names by a same company. Since the quantity of folic acid required is 5 mg and both the tablets fulfil it. MHR tablet contains 5- methyl folate which is an active form of folic acid and is a more effective supplement. it is best to continue with MHR if she has already started taking it.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Now i would like to ask a follow up question due to some confusion from previous query. I bought MHR but its showing it contains,
1. Mecobalamin JP 1500mcg
2. Pyridoxine Hydrochloride IP 20mg
3. Folic Acid IP 5mg
It does not contain methyl folate which you mentioned.
This tablet is manufactured by PULSE pharmaceuticals. Did i bought wrong tablet? Can you please clarify?

Brief Answer:
The tablet is correct.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If MHR has all these three contents then there is no need to worry. 5 mg Folic acid is the main component that is needed. She can safely consume this tablet during pregnancy. If the tablet contains Methylfolate then it is a better option than folic acid. But in a normal pregnancy taking even folic acid is sufficient.
If Meconeuron HR has the same contents then you can buy the one that is cheaper for more cost effectiveness.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
