Question : How accurate will be a hsv2 igg test at 7.5 weeks? I am tested negative at 5.5 weeks but i am not able to cool my nerves and getting very very anxious. I know 12 weeks is the norm but i am so anxious that i am losing sleep over it.
Is it true that people with no prior hsv infection will seroconvert by 6 weeks timeframe mostly?

Brief Answer:
A 6 weeks test is a good indicator of Hsv status
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have read your question and I understand your concern.
A 12 weeks test is definitely more reliable than a 2 weeks test. However most infected individuals do not seroconvert at 12 weeks. Antibody response occurs from 2-12 weeks and a 6 weeks test is a good indicator if Hsv status. However a 12 weeks test would be conclusive.

I'm experiencing shooting pain in my penis glans. Though this has been on and off, I feel it now consistently. I don't have any other sores. Can this pain be the symptom of herpes? Heard in some of the posts that pain alone can not be a symptom... Please advise... Any thoughts on how I can relieve from this pain? Please help
Brief Answer:
I suggest symptomatic treatment for the time being
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Shooting pain and tingling in perineum can be part of a prodrome of an episode of genital herpes but it would soon be followed by genital sores if it is due to herpes. In the absence of genital sores it would not be right to assign this pain as due to genital herpes. Therefore, I suggest you to take symptomatic treatment for 2-3 days in the form of a painkiller/ antiinflammatory e.g Combiflam tablet, twice daily and follow up in case you notice any genital sores.
Regards
