Is A Small Painful Bruise On Upper Back A Concern?
Question: I had a small hard lump on my upper back for about 8 months that had zero pain or sensation to it and this week it flattened into a small flat oval area that has a small pain like a new bruise. is it anything?

Mild inflammation or infection can cause liquefaction and the shape transformed into a flattened oval and have mild pain as well.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult a General Surgeon or a Dermatologist as may be the system in your country - your Family Doctor will help you with the reference and get this operated for the following reasons:
1) you get rid of the disease that is not a normal part of the body.
2) You get correct diagnosis by histo-path examination of the removed lump.
3 As the lump is on the upper back, it does come under the pressure zone as it will rub on sofa/chair and bed; hence best to get rid of any lump on the back.
