Posted on Tue, 5 Sep 2017
Question: I had my mirena coil removed as we want too try for a baby. 3 days later I had pink spotting. That stopped after 12 hours and for the last 5 days I've had brown spotting. Is this normal or could this be an implantation bleed

Brief Answer:
Withdrawal effect of Mirena

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
The spotting you are having is likely to be due to the withdrawal effect of hormone levonorgestrel present in Mirena on the uterine lining.
Withdrawal of this hormone can lead to irregular spotting and bleeding for another 3-4 weeks.
It is unlikely to be implantation bleeding.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
