Question : Hi. I've had chicken pox and shingles, as has my husband, and my 20-year-old-son has had the chicken pox vaccine. We've just been informed by my stepdaughter that her 10-year-old son is getting over it and her 12 year old has just contracted it. What are the dangers for us?
Thanks

                                    Brief Answer:
You only have chicken pox once in your entire life!
Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this chicken pox. You have nothing to fear as no one can have chicken pox more than once. A single infection produces a lifelong lasting immunity. Have other things to worry about but certainly not this chicken pox.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.

You haven't answered my question entirely. My son has had the vaccine but NOT the actual chicken pox. Can he still get the chicken pox? He's got a heavy semester ahead of him.

The vaccine is very effective!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The vaccine is very effective but i cannot guarantee a 100% full protection. To be sure, he will need to get his antibodies checked to see whether he has developed permanent immunity or not. To be safe, let him stay away from the affected children However, chances are very slim that he could be at risk but then we cannot offer a 100% certainty without testing.
