Is Indentation On Head Of An Infant Post A Fall A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Apr 2015
Question: My son is 8 months old and fell off couch onto wooden floors after my partner was passing his twin to me. We checked him over straight away he didn't even have a red mark but a day later we noticed he has a 7cm line indent on his left side of his head. There is no swelling but unsure if we should be worried.

Brief Answer:
better to get him examined

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Usually if child is active and playful without any symptoms like vomiting or pain or excessive crying, it indicates nothing serious.
But having said that you need to get your baby examined by a physician to completely rule out any serious injuries.
95 percent of such incidents do not have any serious effects.
But it is difficult to say if your baby is in the majority group.
Don't worry.
Just get him examined.
That should settle your anxiety.
Wishing your baby good health.
Regards
Dr Arun
