Question : I have had abdominal pain and went to a walk-in center today because my primary care doc is on vacation. I have Sjogren's Syndrome, so lab work is always important in spotting something that's not quite right. Today I had a protein level of 1+, a potassium level of 5.4, an ALP of 31, and an AST of 50. My MCHC was slightly low at 32.7. Sjogren's can cause kidney issues. Should I be concerned with these results? They told me to follow up with my primary but he won't be back 'til 8/10. I have a Sjogren's specialist in XXXXXXX that I see 8/9. Should I be doing something in the meanwhile?

Brief Answer:
I think this should be evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your qurry on HCM.

Well yes there can be kidney involvement in sjogrens syndrome specially renal stones are very common . Parenchymal involvement can also be there . Please repeat urine r/m, RFT, urine 24 hour protein , bicarbonate , potassium levels. A USG abdomen will also be required to look for stones .

I think your complaints should be evaluated well. You can discuss this with your treating doctor also.

Take care.
