Is It Safe To Have Losartan Along With Nebivolol?

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jul 2015
Question: Note: I have already corresponded with Dr. Sharka about this but would like a second oppinion.
Losartan (for BP & circulation) and Carvedilol (for HR and circulation) will only keep my heart rate between 85 to 95. When my resting HR is over 80 I wake up tired and am exhausted by mid afternoon. If I can keep it around 65 to 75, I do great. It's hard to explain, but I feel my heartbeat is somewhat "whimpy" on the Carvedilol and I'm getting quite a bit of congestion and cough. I would really like a slower HR with a stronger beat if possible. I'm very curious about Nebivolol. Have read reviews by people with fast heart rates who say it really did the trick, but a lot of people also said they were allergic to it.
Which of these routes would you try first and why?
1. Losartan with Bisoprolol.
2. Nebivolol.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
I strongly recommend that you should take Losartan and Nebivolol.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

If you were my patient I would recommend to take Losartan with Nebivolol in order to control your HR and BP. Nebivolol is more effective than other betablockers including Bisoprolol.

Nebivolol is a selective betablockers (that has effects only on heart) that has also lowering BP effects. This is why I strongly recommend that you should take Losartan and Nebivolol in order to stabilise your symptoms.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

Thank you very much for your recommendation of Losartan with Nebivolol.

Would you be able to help me understand the "with ISA" vs. "without ISA" property of beta blockers? I am still confused on that.

I have read that Carvedilol and Bisoprolol do NOT have ISA, while Nebivolol and Acebutolol have ISA.

Considering my need to lower the heart rate, but still keep a "strong" heartbeat, how important is the ISA property? Should that be a major part of the decision or not?

Brief Answer:
Following answer to your query.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Beta blockers with ISA (intrinsic sympathomimetic activity) are a subgroup that appart from blocking the effect of sympathetic nervous system on heart, they are able to stimulate beta adrenergic receptors on other organs.

By doing so they are more effective on treating hypertension and tachycardia while they maintain a stronger heart beat.

Moreover having an ISA activity has a beneficial effects on diabetes and cholesterol levels.

All this effects are essential on decision making and this is why I strongly recommended you Nebivolol.

Wish you health!
