Question : I just had my bloodwork done. I have a concern about my cholesterol and would like to know if it is recommended to be on a statin such as crestor. I am 56, a woman. My total cholersterol is 318, my LDL is 225, my HDL is 71, my triglycerides are 108. I want to know if it would be recommended to be on crestor at 10 mg, as the risk for women on statins are not very promising and may cause more harm than good.
Brief Answer:
You should start with healthy lifestyle and then crestor.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your lab reports and I admit that your cholesterol levels are elevated.
The very first advice is to make changes in your diet and lifestyle regimen for the first 3 months. The change will consist on diet, quit smoking and increased physical activity.
If your cholesterol numbers won't improve, then you should start taking Crestor.
Hope it was of help!
