Brief Answer:
I prefer Local but depends!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

Local anesthesia is always preferred over general anesthesia if indicated/possible. However, you need the cooperation of the patient. At 12years, some children can be very understanding and others not. What I will recommend is that they go in for local and if he fails to cooperate, they should convert it into a general anesthesia.

In all, I recommend local anesthesia if the child can cooperate. In any case, start with local and convert to general if child fails to cooperate during the procedure.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and thank you so much for trusting us with your health question. Feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be. I wish your son a safe and successful procedure.
