Is Persistent Sharp Pain In Penis Glans Post Intercourse A Symptom Of Herpes?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Apr 2016
Question: I had unprotected sex with a csw 7 weeks ago. The hsv testes at 5.5 weeks are negative.

I'm experiencing shooting pain in my penis glans. Though this has been on and off, I feel it now consistently. I don't have any other sores. Can this pain be the symptom of herpes? Heard in some of the posts that pain alone can not be a symptom... Please advise... Any thoughts on how I can relieve from this pain? Please help

Brief Answer:
Unlikely herpes without lesions.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.Welcome to health care magic.
I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.

Herpes simplex virus is not a very serious disease like HIV, but is known for recurrence.

HSV IgM antibodies are elevated in the early stages but are not reliable. HSV IgG Antibodies are elevated usually by 2-6 weeks .So it is unlikely to be due to Herpes with negative results at 5.5 weeks.
But both can be false negative .
There are very rare cases with pain as the only symptom without lesions. As per the previous queries ,it appears you never had herpes lesions.

You can take analgesic like brufen for now.Drink plenty of water and fluids.
If pain persists you can consult urologist to rule out any stones.

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you
