Question : My wife is 38 years old and having diabetes for the last 5 years. Her fasting was p.p. are nearly normal level when tests done without taking medicines. We have a child which is 9 year old. Can my wife conceive again?

Your wife may conceive without any problem if her monthly cylces are regular.

Only thing you should be alert of is her sugar levels may fluctuate during pregnancy and they should be monitored regularly and if needed, anti diabetic drugs/insulin may be started.

With controlled diabetes and normal menstrual cycles there shouldn't be any problem to conceive.

can she continue her diabetic medication till conceiving or has to be shifted to insulin before that?

Hi,

She may continue with oral diabetic tablets till she conceive. Sugar levels should be under control.

If with oral tablets sugar is not controlled then insulin might be started. If sugars are under control then no need to worry and continue tablets.
