Is Repetition Of Anti-rabies Vaccination Required When Wounded Deeply By A Dog?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Sep 2017
Question: Hi,
My dog bit me this morning, & she is vaccinated & healthy. One of the wounds is deep, but not deep enough, more like punctured. I had my tetanus shot 1 & a year ago. I remember the doctor telling me that I won't need to get the shot for 5 years. Now that I got bitten, will I need to get the shot again?

Brief Answer:
No need

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I do not think you require a vaccination. Generally speaking the cost of vaccine is very cheap than the fear you may have about acquiring tetanus.
So it's up to you to get vaccinated or not.
You may need antibiotics to prevent other infection. you also need a good dressing over the wound.
Good health.
