Question : My daughter has an infected staph infection in her armpits. A doctor at a clinic prescribed both Amoxycillin Clavinate and doxycycline hyclate. Is it advisable to take those both together?
Brief Answer:
yes, if indicated
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
It can be taken together, but it is not usual for armpit skin infections which are almost always caused by staphylococcus aureus and amoxicilin is usually efficient enough. However, in severe infection when there is larger area or redness and swelling or when resistant type of staph is suspected, then doxyciclin can be added. There are no serious interactions between these 2 but it may be irritative to gastrointestinal system. Wish you good health. Regards
