Hello,
Thank you for asking a question.

For treatment purpose, lung carcinoma is divided in two broad types
1.     Small cell carcinoma of lung
2.     Non-small cell carcinoma of lung including squamous cell carcinoma, Adenocarcinoma, etc.

For small cell carcinoma, chemotherapy (often including cyclophosphamide, cisplatinum, doxorubicin, etoposide, vincristine and/or paclitaxel) is administered together with concurrent chest radiotherapy (RT) stands treatment of choice. This type of carcinoma has early chance of metastasis.

For non-small cell carcinoma of lung treatment of choice is surgical excision of the tumor. In advanced stage of non-small cell carcinoma, surgery is combined with special chemotherapeutic agent.

So, the treatment is dependent of the type of tumor. It is determined by either Fine needle aspiration cytology or Biopsy taken from the lung. These types are pathological types. Before starting the treatment the report should be in hand.

In your case, removal of lump in right shoulder indicates a metastasis in the lymph node. Bone metastasis along with the lymph node metastasis does not stand well for prognosis. Depending on the histological type chemotherapy or radiotherapy should be started.

In our clinical experience prognosis of lung carcinoma is not good. Small cell carcinoma has worse prognosis.

Treatment of a lung carcinoma depends upon histological types, metastasis in other organ or lymph nodes. Without clinical examination and without knowing all the parameters definite treatment modality cannot be said.

I don’t know good hospital in the area you mentioned. You can go to India’s the best hospital for cancer – Tata Medical Centre Mumbai. Here, you can consult with doctors of other specialties for a better treatment.

Hope this information suffices. Let me know if you have any more question.

Regards.
