Indigestion, Heartburn, Pain In Back, Shoulder, Pain In Chest When Deep Breath Is Taken. Reason?

Hi Dr, I am a 51 year old woman. I have bad indigestion, heart burn, very painful back shoulder pain, when I take in deep breaths my chest aches and it feels like I have to strain to do so. I am eating fibre, vegetables and fruits daily. I take vitamin C and mega B and fish oil supplements every morning. I do strain to have bowel movements but do have movements daily. I also take efexor 150mg daily and have done so for 1 year. I have been on efexor for 4 years and it has been increased over the years. I had a full abdominal hysterectomy 4 years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago and had a lumpectomy followed by radiation therapy. I don't want to sound like a hypochondriac so I have been avoiding going to my GP. He is a very good dr and I don't want to waist his time if I am simply not doing something right. I do not have a cold, I am not sniffling or coughing, I do not have head aches or watery eyes. I had a flew injection 5 weeks ago to avoid bad colds. I hope I have given enough information for a diagnosis.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Chest pain can be a very serious symptom and should not be ignored. It can be caused by abdominal diseases, heart issues or be related to your breast cancer. So It seems you have good reasons to visit your good doctor.

Your symptoms can be caused by gallstones or pancreas inflammation. It usually gives upper right or middle abdominal pain radiating to the back or even shoulders. Nausea, vomiting and loose stools can appear.

Heart ischemic disease can cause chest pain, especially on the right side The pain can radiate to the left arm or jaw. Anxiety, shortness of breath, sweating can also appear.

Breast cancer recurrence or lymph nodes metastasis can also give chest pain and should be ruled out.

If you have bowel movements problem, you should also check your large intestine condition. It is because over the age of 50 the risk of colon cancer significantly rises.

I suggest you to visit your doctor and have some diagnostics. Heart ECG, abdominal ultrasound, chest X-ray, blood work, liver tests should be done at first.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
