Suggest Better Treatment For Lichen Schlerosus

Question : Hello, I am a 50 year old woman, I've been on HRT since I was 43. I suffer from Lichen Schlerosus which is treated with a mild steroid cream when I have a flair up. My problem is that having sex with my husband is so painful. The skin around my vagina does not seem to have any stretch in it and is very thin, it is prone to bleeding during penetrative sex and I get a very painful burning sensation. I use a pure water gel as a lubricant as any other lubricant with any additives at all stings too much. The Gynaecologist that I went to see at the local hospital suggested I use Lanacaine during sex ( I could have cried, what would be the point of having sex) I don't feel my husband realises how painful it is either. Do you have any suggestions ?

I have gone through your question and I understood your problem.

You already are using vaginal lubrication continue using that.
I will suggest few more ways which will be helpful for you.
Vaginal moisturizers-You can use moisturizers like
Fresh Start, K-Y Silk-E, Moist Again, Replens, K-Y Liquibeads

In most of the patients I have seen the symptoms get relieved either with gel or moisturizers.

If you are not relieved with these I will suggest you following

Vaginal estrogen products Vagifem (vaginal tablet), Estrace (cream), Neo-Estrone (cream), Premarin (cream), Estring (low-dose vaginal ring)
