Posted on Fri, 20 Nov 2015
Question: I had posterior fusion and anterior back surgery 4 weeks ago. I was sent home with morphine and hydrocodone actemetphen 5/350. I quit the morphine 2 weeks ago. The hydro makes me nauseous, horribly. I was taking XXXXXXX for neck spasms prior to surgery. Can I stop the hydro and take XXXXXXX instead, since my left leg cramps, I ice my back?

Brief Answer:
Take within prescribed dosage, inform your Doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Thanks for the query.

Yes, Some persons are intolerant to Hydrocodone. You can avoid taking it and take XXXXXXX for the pain relief but not more than 5 days. You must inform your Doctor before you make any changes in your medication though.

Apply hot water bag to the painful muscle spasms in your legs. Icing is usually not performed after surgery as the wound can be subjected to invest moisture, pressure and can dehisce.

I hope I have answered your query,

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
