Question: Hi, My 3 year old daughter who is underweight (10kgs), was having cough and high fever 4 days ago. I gave her ambrodil, relent and azithral 200 and honeitos for cough. Today i have to give her her 5th dose of azithral. Yesterday morning she had fever for which I gave her crocin. It got subsided. The full day she didn't have fever. Again after 24 hrs, today she has got fever again. Today I will give her final dose azithral. According to what I have read fever should have subsided by now. Is it a cause to worry? what if she gets fever tommorow?

Brief Answer:
needs clinical examination and tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
First I would like to mention that giving antibiotic like azithral on your own is not advisable esp for a 3 year old.
It may be unnecesary and promote resistant organisms. The same medicine might not work next time.
Fever and cough for more than 5 days needs complete evaluation by your doctor to look for chest or throat or ear infection and appropriate medicines.
If no source is found on examination blood test for malaria and dengue and complete blood count may be needed.
Wishing your child speedy recovery.
Regards

Dr Arun
