Question : I have psoriasis on the head of my penis is there an otc cream that is effective for this condition I did see my doctor at the VA five years ago. she said it was probably herpes gave me a moth supply of veltrex said if it didn't go away then it wasn't herpes it never did go away if anything it got worse. so I got an ointment for psoriasis and it mostly cleared up but never completely
Brief Answer:
Betamethasone plus salicylic acid
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Topical steroids are the main stay of treatment in psoriasis.
Ointments like Betnovate(betamethasone) ,salicylic acid and Anthralin derivatives of coal tar.
A combination of these drugs are available as over the counter drugs/OTC's.
These drugs work by eliminating the scales and controlling the Psoriatic process
I hope this info is helpful to you.
Thank you
