Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query. Ideally I would have needed a clinical examination to confirm. However, that is beyond the scope of this discussion. Most often such grunting occurs due to nasal block. If that is the case, applying saline nasal drops one drop in each nostril as per requirement should help in providing relief.
I would insist you to lay the child on the bed, remove the clothing from over the chest and abdomen, take a watch and count the respirations (up and down movement of the chest and abdomen) for one whole minute. If the respiratory rate is lesser than 60/min you need not worry. But in case it is more than that, the grunting could indicate respiratory distress and you would need to take the child to a doctor.
It is hard to comment without a clinical evaluation about when it would stop. If it is due to nasal block, clearing of the block should make it stop.

Detailed Answer:
If the breathing rate is not increased there is not a slightest reason to get concerned. No issues if you were not regular with the nasal drops.
The main significant presentation of respiratory distress is nasal flaring, increased rate of breathing and chest indrawing. I presume that none are present.
Nasal drops (preferably saline nasal drops and not Nasivion) is the mainstay of clearing nasal block. Nothing else needs to be done.

No need to worry.
Detailed Answer:
The chest will always move up and down. That does not mean that it is abnormal. The movement of the chest gets intensified when you take a deep long breath as during a gasp. That could be due to respiratory distress. I do not think that is happening in case of your child. I would not expect a respiratory distress without a increase in respiratory rate (which would occur in case of pneumonia).
Since there is no discomfort, stop worrying unnecessarily.
Nasoclear is a brand of saline nasal drop. It does not need a prescription. It can also be prepared at home:
Add 1 cup (240 ml) distilled water to a clean container. If you use tap water, boil it first to sterilize it, and then let it cool until it is lukewarm.
Add 0.5 tsp (2.5 g) salt to the water.
Add 0.5 tsp (2.5 g) baking soda.
