Suggest Remedies For Greenish Sputum And Low Grade Fever

Question: I have a history of bronchitis and have been hacking and producing felm (green) this morning. Maybe low or no fever at this point. I am tired and congested. Should I be on a steroid?

Thanks for posting your query on HCM..

I've gone through your query. I would like to know if you suffer from allergy/ asthma ?

If you are having greenish sputum with low grade fever or feverish feeling you should take an antibiotic course like augmentin or azithromycin or levofloxacin. If you are also having breathing difficulty or hacking cough, you may take a course of oral steroids. I generally prefer wysolone 40 mgm daily for 5 days but it's better to consult your PCP so that both steroids and antibiotics are taken under his supervision.

You may also take nebulization with duolin and budecort respules 2 to 3 times daily. Continue with dayquil and Nyquil for symptomatic relief.

It's better to get a chest X Ray and a CBC done before starting the treatment.
