Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...around 2 weeks ago i got a very bad cold/cough that was close to being bronchitis, was prescribed myocamin. then my ear got blocked and painful, the doc told me to continue another course of myocamin plus garosone ear drops. i finished the course but my ear is still blocked and it hurts, mostly in the mornings and evenings. now the doc prescribed avelox and some other ear drops as i have to go on a plane in 2 weeks and this problem has been over a week. i don t have any fever. i was reading about avelox and it has some pretty disturbing side effects. i don t know if it is safe to go ahead with this treatment.
Blocked ears can be diagnosed by physical examination of ear drum. Mostly after episode of cold and cough one can get a problem of retained secretions behind the ear drum which can be resolved by taking xylometazolinenasal spray and making swallowing movements keeping the nose closed that can help drainage of the secretions. Also, it can be due to wax in ear canal that can reduce hearing also. it can be resolved by wax solvent drops.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
