Question: explain (in plain English) how my torturous esophagus affects my ability to function as a telephone customer service representative. I've had an upper GI and an endoscopy. I have a hiatal hernia, as well. Currently taking Carafate, took Metoclopramide, Omeprazole.

Brief Answer:
It doesn't affect your profession.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Your profession as Customer service representative needs you to talk to many customers.
Diseases of the oesophagus and stomach will not interfere with your profession.
I would like to have your Upper GI endoscopy report.
Actually, esophagus will not be like a straight pipe.
It has few compressions due to some organs that are present externally.
Complete narrowing of the Esophagus is a problem where food or water cannot pass into stomach.
As you have just hiatal hernia, tortuous esophagus is nothing to worry.
Continue with the present medication as prescribed by your doctor.
The voice is maintained by Larynx and its attached muscles.
In some cases, Reflux esophagitis can cause burning sensation in the chest and throat. It can be treated easily with medication like RABEPRAZOLE along with Levosulpiride.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
