Question : My wife is to get hip replacement on Tuesday also has restless leg syn. at hospital for final visit Dr. today did lots of walking and is so much pain tonight. She takes ropinirole hcl 2mg 3x daily. She also has a hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10-325. Our question is can she mix 1/2 of a pain pill with the ropinirole? Thank you Floyd Ison

Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
Your wife has to undergo hip replacement and because of excessive walking has a lot of pain tonight.She is also on ropinirole for restless leg syndrome.
In my opinion since she is on ropinirole, no painkillers of morphine group, like hydrocone should be used in combination, since they may potentiate the effects of ropinirole.
I suggest you give her anti inflammatory pain killers like diclofenac for relief from pain on temporary basis. Rest you can discuss with your Orthopedic Surgeon for post operative pain killers.
