Suggest Remedies For Severe Cough At Night

Posted on Wed, 25 May 2016
Question: For several days I've had a"dry cough"... Especially when lying in bed. It feels like I have sand in my bronchial tubes. Sometimes I hear squeaking after a coughing fit. No phlegm, no mucus, no relief. Please advise as losing sleep each night. Thanks,

Brief Answer:
Cough at bedtime is mostly due to heart disease or bronchitis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.

1. Do you smoke?
2. Do you have diabetes?
3. Do you have high blood pressure?

Cough at bedtime is mostly due to heart disease or bronchitis. At this age, I would first urge you to see a doctor to rule out heart disease. An ECG and 2D echo are entailed.

After ruling out heart illness, I will request for a PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).

Treatment of the condition is based on the reports. Please visit your doctor and consider the aforementioned test.

Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
