Question : I was hospitalized 1/1 with a bad case of shellfish poisoning. Now several days later i am still experiencing pain, especially post-prandial. Im not entirely sure if this is within a normal time frame to still be experiencing this pain with the inability to eat solids without pain. I tried to eat some solids today, since i was feeling pretty good. Now I am back in misery. What should I do? Wait it out a few more days since i am able.to keep relatively hydrated? Or, make another trip to the ER (which I dread since.last time I was made.to wait in the waiting room for 8 hours before being treated with fluids, anti-emitic meds, and pain meds) because I fear a repeat of having to wait so incredibly long for help!
Brief Answer:
You could wait

Hello, Thank you for posting your question on Health Care Magic.
Shell fish poisoning can be very bad and it can take a long time to recover .
However I have a few questions do you have any fever still?loose stools or vomiting?
If not don't worry it is just your stomach settling down and reacting to solid food .
Just keep yourself well hydrated.
Tab Pantoprazole 40mg daily half an hour before food will help you.
But if your have fever again or severe loose stools rush back to ER.
Hope this helps
Best wishes

I am still throwing up just not as often as 4-5 days ago. Nausea remains along with the pain. How long should i wait before contemplating a return to seek additional help?
Brief Answer:
Ok
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Keep yourself well hydrated.
For the vomiting you may take Tab ondansetron 4mg twice a day .
You could wait for 48 hours more before you go to ER but meanwhile if it gets worse and you are dehydrated please go to the ER
Hope this helps
Best wishes
