Suggest Remedy For Depression And Irritability

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Jun 2015
Question: Lately I have been feeling very depressed and unmotivated. After work I literally lay down and do nothing (or am on my phone for hours till my spouse gets home). I recently bought two puppies and am currently house training them. Whenever one of them goes pee in the house I freak out and spank them too hard and have thoughts of hurting them bad, then after I feel very guilty. I've never been violent like this before but I do have a past of depression. Sometimes it feels like I'm not even myself. What do you think this is? What can I do to stop it before I hurt an animal or a person?

Brief Answer:
relaxation exercises.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.

I have read your query thoroughly and understand your concerns.

Many a times depression is accompanied by irritability and anger outbursts.
But essential features of depression are sad mood, loss of interest and no energy or easy fatiguability in doing any work.
You feel unmotivated. Do you have other features as well?

You can try to spot the triggers of your anger and work out to modify those triggers.

Practice relaxation exercises like deep breathing and meditation.

Turn to drinking cold water whenever you start feeling angry.

Biofeedback therapy and progressive muscle relaxation exercises under the guidence of a psychologist can also help.

Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask further.

Thanks.
