Suggest Remedy For Extreme Burning Sensation While Urinating
Question: So I am experiencing so strange symptoms. Two weeks ago I was experiencing symptoms of a UTI. The extreme burning while urinating , feeling like I have to go every few minutes and going.and the pain. I am 49 and I have had my share of UTI`s. . I started feeling these symptoms about 48 hours after having intercourse with my husband, Intercourse on Friday, started having symptoms on Sunday morning. after having these symptoms for 3 days I went to see my OBGYN. She did not give me a exam. She took a urine sample and wrote me a prescription for the pain and burning. My sample came back clean. Two days after that I felt better. The OBGYN said if I didn't feel better in a few days I should go see a urologist. Fast forward two weeks and again. I have intercourse on Friday and Saturday night while sleeping I am awaken by burning pain and feeling like I have to go. I went to the bathroom 2 or 3 times and then finally got to go back to sleep. Then all day Sunday feeling like I have a UTI again. Today is Monday and my symptoms and cleared up I would say by 85%.
My question is, Is having intercourse giving me UTI symptoms ? Even though that after intercourse I make sure I go to the bathroom and empty my bladder, I then I also make sure I wipe the entire area with a warm damp cloth.

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have developed symptoms of UTI after having intercourse with your husband.
I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Does your husband has any urinary symptoms like burning urination ,painful ejaculation,etc ?
2) Was is a unprotected sex?
3) Does he have pain in perineal region suggestive of Prostatitis?
Since you got UTI both the times after sex it is most likely that you have acquired UTI through sexual contact only .
Please both of you consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Routine urine test and urine culture of both of you done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.
2) Semen Examination and semen culture of your husband
3) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis.
Both of you need to take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefexime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
Ensure to drink more water.To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
Further treatment will be decided by him based on result of these tests and final diagnosis.
