Brief Answer:
Meftal P is more effective in controlling temperature.Antibiotics ineffective in viral fevers.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Crocin DS contains paracetamol which helps in bringing down the temperature. But Meftal P (mefenamic acid) is more effective in controlling temperature and you may try this medicine. The dose depends upon the body weight of your child. You also need to give tepid sponging to help in keeping the temperature in control.

Most often, children suffer from viral infections which manifest with fever. Unless the child grows lethargic you need not worry and just continue paracetamol. Antibiotics are ineffective in viral infections and do not help in faster resolution. Hence it might be of no use and need not be given. Irrespective of the use of antibiotics it usually takes 5-7 days for the fever to resolve. If it still does not come down, blood tests need to be done to rule out typhoid.

Let me know if you have any further queries and I would be glad to help.
