                                            Question : My husband is an alcoholic.  He has been having problems with feeling like he needs to burp, then starts intense gagging. Sometimes he throws up, but more times than not he just sounds like he is trying to throw up. It is awful intense for him and it sounds terrible. .what is this?

This is irritation of esophagus or stomach by some pathologic process. It can be more or less serious cause but since he is alcoholic then worst scenarios should be ruled out. And these include oesophageal and gastric tumors.
However in most cases there is just gastric ulcer, gastriris, GERD or BArrets esophagus. It can be treated by medicines and diet.
But to determine exact diagnosis he simply must do gastroscopy and then plan further treatment. WIsh you good health. Regards

                                    He just got out of the hospital because he can't walk 10 ft without breathing like he ran 5 miles. they did a lot of blood work, but found nothing. could these be connected??
